Pembrey Circuit May 2016

Build Progress

It was a long old trip to the South of Wales with a car that had only been finished at 2am that morning! It wasn't the best of preparations I could have done, trying to learn a new car on a new circuit.

Passed scrutineering fine (phew) but as we were leaving the bay the new electrical cut out switch failed. Replacing this meant I missed qualifying so did 3 sighting laps with the MR2's.

After a reasonable start to the first race it went down hill from there, didn't know the car, didn't know the circuit so was well of the pace. Then had starvation issues on certain bends as the fuel moved around in the tank.

One to chalk up as experience!

Mallory Park Sept 2016

Having ironed out a few more of the issues on the car we were hoping for a better run out at Mallory Park. Car felt good during qualifying with no reliability issues but tyre pressures were far too high. Back of the grid for Race 1 but feeling optimistic.

After some advice from JJ Motorsport we set the tyre pressures correctly and the car felt better immediately. Good start to the race and started making up some places, took a while to get past a MK3 MR2 and was then in open air till the end of the race. Car still felt a bit down on power but much happier with the feel of it.

Race 2 started off well but a few laps in it seemed to loose power, slowly ended up at the back of the pack and then the power steering went, dumping fluid all over the track.

So more work to do over the winter but that will have to wait as the car is going into storage as I move house.
